Rotorua

Rotorua

Located just a 3-hour drive south from Auckland, Rotorua sits in the middle of the Taupo Volcanic Zone and is known as the thermal wonderland of New Zealand. Built above a geothermal hotspot, Rotorua’s hot springs and geysers have attracted tourists for over a century. Although private use of naturally occurring geothermal water and steam is controlled, many places here have their own private geothermal bores for heating and water for bathing. Rotorua is also the trout fishing capital of the world.

Located in the hub of New Zealand's busiest tourist centre, Rotorua offers travelers a myriad of attractions both natural and man made. The Boiling Mud- Kuirau Park is Rotorua's largest Geyser and literally one of the ‘hottest’ spots in town, while the 14 lakes around the town provide visitors with a somewhat ‘cooler’ and aesthetic proposition. The Government Gardens Park adds on to the town’s beauty while the Rotorua City Museum, the famous Blue Baths, the popular Polynesian Spa, the Agrodome, the nearby Energy Events Centre, and the stunning Blue & Green Lakes are also places worth visiting.
